MIT-ADT University Executive President honoured for contribution to education

*Pune/Thane:* Prof Dr. Mangesh Karad, Executive President of MIT Art, Design and Technology (MIT-ADT) University, was conferred the ‘Marathwada Ratna’ award for his contribution to the education sector at a function in Thane.

The award was presented during the Marathwada Liberation Struggle commemoration organised by the Marathwada Janvikas Parishad, Thane, at Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan at Talav Pali. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Thane MP Naresh Mhaske and MLA Sanjay Kelkar were among those present.

Marathwada Janvikas Parishad president Annasaheb Tekale and senior vice-president Nitin Kadam felicitated Karad at the event.

The organisation has been working for the social, educational and overall development of people from Marathwada for the past 17 years. It also organises the Marathwada Multilingual Day programme annually. Karad was selected for this year's ‘Marathwada Ratna’ award in recognition of his contribution to education.

Speaking after receiving the award, Karad said Marathwada was not merely a geographical region but a land with a history of sacrifice, valour, spirituality and struggle. He said the region had made an “invaluable contribution” to the cultural and political development of Maharashtra.

Karad said receiving the honour as a son of Marathwada was a matter of pride. He also attributed the recognition of MIT-ADT University's academic work to the blessings and guidance of Prof Vishwanath D. Karad, founder-president of the MAEER's MIT Group of Educational Institutions.

Karad said the award was not merely a personal honour but also recognition of the contribution of his family and the teaching and non-teaching staff of MIT-ADT University, Pune.
