Rotary Club of Khadki Launches ‘Vision for All’
Pune,: In a major step towards enhancing road safety and public health, the Rotary Club of Khadki, in partnership with Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust and H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, launched the "Vision for All" initiative at the Swargate PMPML Bus Depot. The project aims to provide free comprehensive eye screening, high-quality spectacles, and primary eye care to nearly 8,000 PMPML bus drivers and conductors across Pune.
The inaugural programme was attended by Rtn. Sharad Jain, President, Rotary Club of Khadki; Parvez Billimoria, Managing Director, H.V. Desai Eye Hospital; Mr Nagesh Gaikwad, PRO, PMPML: Rotarians Mahesh Makhija,Manju Prasad; Shashi Bhatia; Anant Pai; and other members of RC Khadki.Thankful for the support of Mr Mahesh Avadh, MD, PMPML; Alice Pore, Dy Managing Director, PMPML; and Vijaykumar Sarnaik, CEO PMPML.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Rtn.Sharad Jain said that good vision is fundamental to safe driving and public safety. "This initiative will ensure that PMPML drivers and conductors receive essential primary eye care. Better vision will help reduce the risk of road accidents improving the safety of thousands of commuters of Pune."
Rtn. Manju Prasad highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Rotary Club of Khadki and Ratnanidhi Charitable Trustfor over a decade. This has resulted in the conceptualisation of this project and the generous support of Rajiv Bhai Mehta who is sponsoring premium-quality Essilor spectacles free of cost through the Trust.
Rtn. Mahesh Makhija, Chairman Project committee, said the first phase will cover approximately 800 drivers and conductors at the Swargate Depot over three days. The initiative will then be extended to all 18 PMPML depots in Pune.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parvez Billimoria said the collaboration between H.V. Desai Eye Hospital and the Rotary Club of Khadki is an investment in preventive healthcare and public safety.
