FSAI Pune Chapter Hosts Engaging Training Session on Fire Safety and IoT
Pune;The Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) Pune Chapter successfully conducted an insightful training session on "Fire Safety of Future High-Rise Buildings and IoT (Internet of Things)" as part of the Sparked Series Session 3. The event took place at the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) Bhau institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and was expertly led by Mr. Vinod Kapse, Principal Consultant at Kapse Consultants.
A distinguished gathering included Smt. Sujal Shah, President of FSAI Pune Chapter; Smt. Simple Jain, President-Elect; Mr. Sagar Munishwar, Secretary; Mr. Prasad N, Principal Sponsor; as well as esteemed guests such as Mr. B. S. Kapse, Divisional Fire Officer at MIDC Hinjewadi; and representatives from the Pune Fire Department. The session attracted over 120 professionals, school students, and community members eager to learn about the pressing role of IoT in fire safety.
During her welcoming remarks, Smt. Sujal Shah highlighted the mission of FSAI, established in 2002 to promote fire safety awareness across India with 26 centers and more than 9,000 members. She underscored the association's initiatives, including training programs for various sectors such as women employees and school students, and expressed gratitude for receiving the first award for excellence among all centers in India.
Mr. Vinod Kapse addressed the audience by emphasizing the critical need for a holistic approach in fire safety, particularly in the design and operation of high-rise buildings. He discussed essential considerations such as stair and lift placements, occupancy levels, and effective alarm systems, noting that the smoke generated during a fire often poses a greater risk than the fire itself. The session featured interactive discussions, with attendees engaging in an extensive Q&A period that fostered a deeper understanding of integrating IoT solutions into fire safety systems.
Mr. B.S. Kapse articulated the increasing importance of IoT connectivity in modern infrastructure, stating that maintaining critical systems like pump houses is vital for effective fire response.
Mr. Sameer Sheikh remarked on the precious nature of human life and stressed the importance of understanding safety mechanisms in homes and workplaces. He pointed out that IoT technologies can facilitate real-time monitoring of safety systems, potentially reducing both human and financial loss during fire incidents.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Prasad Nishtala, who showcased innovative technological advancements in fire safety products, and was gracefully moderated by Astha Chaudhary and Madhura Hembade
