Pune: “The right blend of intuition, imagination and innovation can lead to meaningful and productive growth in both personal and professional life,” said noted business leader, author and columnist R. Gopalakrishnan.
He was speaking at a session on ‘Ruminations on Intuition, Imagination and Innovation’, at the Ishanya Auditorium, Symbiosis International School. The programme was jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown, Rotary Club of Poona Central, Rotary Club of Koregaon Park, Rotary Club of Poona Airport, Rotary Club of Kalyani Nagar and Rotary Club of Far East.
The programme was attended by Rotary Club of Poona Downtown President Rtn Shikha Mitra, Rtn Aarti Thakkar of Pune, Rtn Parveen Malhotra of Pune Central, Rtn Aditya Kumar of Koregaon Park, Rtn Naresh Paul of Airport, Dr Jolly Sinha of Far East and Rtn Lachman Das of Kalyani Nagar, along with office-bearers and members of various Rotary clubs.
Rtn Aashima Agashe welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker.
Drawing on nearly six decades of professional experience, Gopalakrishnan shared insights and anecdotes from his association with leading organisations and business leaders, including the Tata Group, Unilever Arabia, TCS, Marico, HDFC and Biocon. He spoke about leadership, boardroom behaviour, startups, human nature and the importance of looking at familiar situations from a different perspective.
“Beyond what we see or perceive lies a world of possibilities,” he said, highlighting the limitations of human senses and citing the remarkable sense of direction of pigeons as an example. He emphasised that observation, curiosity and intuition can help individuals recognise possibilities that may otherwise remain unnoticed.
Gopalakrishnan also highlighted the importance of productive growth, stressing that it is not limited to organisations or businesses but is equally relevant to every individual. Urging the audience to “remain curious throughout life,” he encouraged continuous learning, questioning and exploring new possibilities.
While ageing is inevitable, he observed, remaining young in one’s thoughts and outlook is within our control.
Rtn Aashima Agashe compered the programme, while Commodore Ajay Chitnis proposed the vote of thanks.
