Dr. Deepak Mittal Urges Graduates to Shape the Future
Pune / Dubai: 2/10/2026: - “Graduation is not the end of learning; it is the beginning of a lifelong responsibility to adapt, innovate and contribute. As technology transforms professions, your challenge is to go beyond being certificate holders and become active participants in shaping the future of your industries,” said H.E. Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to the UAE, at the first convocation ceremony of Symbiosis International University (SIU), Dubai.
The ceremony was held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Dubai Ballroom, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, with H.E. Dr. Deepak Mittal as the Chief Guest. H.E. Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Consul General of India in Dubai, and Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President, TECOM Group, were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, presided over the ceremony, organised with the blessings of Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President, Symbiosis. Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, SIU; Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice Chancellor, SIU; and Dr. Anita Patankar, Executive Director, SIU Dubai were the other distinguished dignitaries present for the function.
“Careers today demand the ability to work across disciplines, embrace new technologies and continually renew your skills,” Dr. Mittal said. “Remain curious and adaptable, and see yourselves as co-authors of the future rather than passive observers of change.”
Highlighting the significance of academic collaboration between India and the UAE, he said, “The first graduation milestone of Symbiosis International University, Dubai, reflects the growing educational bridge between our countries. Such institutions give the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership a lasting human dimension by connecting knowledge, talent and opportunity across borders.”
“Professional achievement must be accompanied by ethical responsibility. Your technical and management skills should help build sustainable institutions, encourage responsible enterprise and create meaningful benefits for society,” he said.
“Measure your success not only by the positions you attain, but also by the contribution you make. Use your education with purpose, uphold professional integrity and pursue opportunities that combine innovation with a positive social impact,” Dr. Mittal added.
Addressing the graduates, H.E. Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said their distinguishing strength would be their “ability to adapt and learn.” He highlighted education as a key pillar of India-UAE relations and welcomed Symbiosis’ growth in Dubai’s competitive higher education ecosystem. Emphasising responsible use of technology, he urged graduates to apply their knowledge with the values acquired during their education and carry forward Dubai’s spirit of tolerance and acceptance.
Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi told graduates that their degree “gives you a foundation” and “does not give you a fixed route.” He encouraged them to remain curious, continue learning beyond formal education and stay open to unexpected career opportunities. Highlighting Dubai’s ambition to become a global centre for talent, research and innovation, he said graduates would have an important role in shaping the city’s future.
In her convocation address, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar emphasised the Symbiosis culture of “ethics, of honesty, of reliability, of resilience.” She encouraged graduates to carry these qualities into their professional lives. Describing the first international campus as the fulfilment of a longstanding dream, she noted that SIU Dubai had grown to 847 students from 22 countries and outlined its focus on employability, entrepreneurship and research.
MBA degrees were conferred on the successful students, including those participating virtually and those permitted to remain absent. The dignitaries presented degrees to the graduates, while merit certificates recognised outstanding academic performance. Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar joined virtually and shared his blessings and message with the graduating students. Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman presented the university’s annual report and delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar proposed the vote of thanks.
